Conus artery at a glance
- What it is
- The conus artery is a small coronary branch to the right ventricular outflow tract.
- Location
- It arises from the right coronary artery in about half to two-thirds of people; in most of the rest it has its own opening in the right aortic sinus (a 'third coronary artery'). It runs across the conus arteriosus, where it may join the equivalent branch of the left anterior descending artery.
- Function
- It supplies the conus arteriosus (infundibulum) of the right ventricle.
- Body system
- Cardiovascular · paired (left and right)
- FMA ID
- FMA3807 (Foundational Model of Anatomy)
Key facts
- The anastomotic ring between left and right conus branches is the circle of Vieussens.
