Acromial branch of thoraco-acromial artery at a glance
- What it is
- The acromial branch is one of four branches of the thoraco-acromial artery and runs to the acromion.
- Location
- The thoraco-acromial artery arises from the second part of the axillary artery and pierces the clavipectoral fascia. Its acromial branch passes laterally over the coracoid process and deep to the deltoid to reach the acromion.
- Function
- It supplies the deltoid and the acromion region and joins the acromial anastomosis around the shoulder.
- Body system
- Cardiovascular · paired (left and right)
- FMA ID
- FMA23069 (Foundational Model of Anatomy)
Key facts
- The other branches of the thoraco-acromial artery are the pectoral, deltoid and clavicular branches.
