Inferior lateral genicular artery at a glance
- What it is
- The inferior lateral genicular artery is a branch of the popliteal artery around the knee.
- Location
- It arises from the popliteal artery, runs laterally around the lateral condyle of the tibia, above the head of the fibula and deep to the lateral collateral ligament, and joins the genicular anastomosis.
- Function
- It supplies the lateral side of the knee.
- Body system
- Cardiovascular · paired (left and right)
- FMA ID
- FMA43893 (Foundational Model of Anatomy)
Key facts
- Five genicular branches of the popliteal artery form the anastomosis around the knee.
